A downloadable Nehan for Windows

Nehan is a platform and puzzle game that takes place in an abandoned toy factory. Our protagonist, a soul reborn in a wooden toy, will be found there. She will have to overcome the puzzles and flee from the different enemies that are spread throughout the factory.

In addition, the main character has three powers related to the different time planes (present, past and future) that will be her main allies on this journey.

Reach Nirvana: Time travel in a mysterious kingdom in which Suja has to advance in order to be reborn and reach Nirvana.

Past, present and future: the protagonist’s different powers allow you to solve each one of the puzzles that Suja will be faced with during her journey. The powers let you control time.

Mystery and Darkness: the contrast between light and darkness will put you in an adverse circumstance. You will have to move forward carefully.

What an interesting little game this is, the game has a very "little nightmares" feel to it and the ambience inside the abandoned toy factory is really immersive with lots of ambient sounds from the machinery and the factory itself.

The aesthetics are really good with high detailing in the surroundings and the way your glow interacts with the scenery. The game also seems to have quite a few nods towards the Buddhist religion with white lotuses and the theme of reincarnation and reaching Nirvana scattered throughout.

There are some really unique abilities your character has in the game which set this platformer apart from the others, overall this game is really enjoyable to play and it will be really interesting to see how this continues to develop.

I just played the game, and first of all, I must say it was truly a good experience. I'll split my sentiments on various sections.

- General impression: the game works on many levels. The ambience, aesthetics, music and playability all fit really good. It is totally an immersive experience, and makes it feel good to play the game. The length is the right one for a demo, and leaves you wanting to continue. The ending sequence is a very cool touch, and helps for it not feeling an imcomplete work.

- Things to improve: I've played with keyboard, so I can only give an opinion on that control scheme. I personally don't have any good controller attached to my PC currently, and I'm used to play on keyboard anyway. The control layout is not very well thought, or maybe not enough tested, I'd say. All the buttons are centered around the WASD area, so I ended playing basically one handed. It didn't give much problems, as the game won't ask for tight maneuvers, but it felt wonky at times. You can perform a limited amount of tasks with 5 fingers, and sometimes moving at the same time as using the powers is uncomfortable. The 'Crtl' key is in general a bad idea, and the space bar sometimes is not the best choice. I ended not using at all the camera movement, so my right hand had no use. If it had the movement of the character there, and all the actions on the left hand, it would have felt way smoother. Another option would have been of course an option to customize the controls. I think this is the way to go anyway if the keyboard setup is expected, as different keyboard layouts will have the letters scattered differently, and can be a mess to use. Also, while this particular demo didn't have precise movement, some turns at funny angles (different than 90/45) felt awkward with keyboard. On another topic, the animation of the bouncing enemy felt a bit sudden at times. At some point, it looked like it smashed the ground from nowhere. I'd say it would work better with a smoother movement. Finally, there's one room, somewhere in the middle of the playthrough, where you have to jump over a spike wall, jumping on some boxes. It kills you as you touch it. Although the respawn point is right there, and you barely lose time, I think is unnecesary for that obstacle to be a harmful one.

- Highlight details: Little things on the background, shelves and tables were nicely placed and made the place feel alive. The light felt lacky at times, but in general created a cool atmosphere, and highlighted the hot spots when needed on the different sections. The different puzzles made it not feel stale at any time. And the idle animation of the character, floating in the air, was just the icing on the cake.

- Glitches and errors: The camera movement didn't feel necesary for me at any moment, but I'm not sure if it worked properly even. Maybe playing with keyboard was part of the reason, as it only allows to make full presses, and has not the smooth movement of a controller stick, but it often didn't seem that it pointed anywhere useful when turning it. Also, just as the game started, on the very first platform the character is placed, all four directional keys made the camera turn to the left. Once jumping down to the floor (where the first tutorial sign is), left and right turned the right way, but up and down both pointed up. Didn't try it much later into the level. Apart from that, in the room after, there's a conveyor belt with boxes. I was exploring and let the boxes push me to the box in the end, where I got stuck. I couldn't move in any direction, or jump. After a while, mashing buttons, I was able to escape from there through the same spot I entered initially, and there were a bunch of crates stuck on the conveyor, blocked probably because of me being on their way. Later, on the room with a few of the red-eyed-robots, I got stuck between two boxes I wanted to climb on. Again, was not able to move or get out. Maybe with time I could have escaped again, but in a moment, a robot came close, and killed me. It was not inmediate, though, and it seemed as if even the enemy couldn't get to me properly. Finally, near to the end, when you have to get a box with a bounce guy chasing you, the last platform to activate goes up and down, close to the floor. In on of the cycles, I was under it when it went down, and it "trapped me", got stuck "pierced" through the platform and carried me up, while I couldn't move. After a few jump presses I got free, and could continue, though.

In general, I think it is a great concept, and it's clear a lot of work was put into it, on avery aspect of the game experience.  My major concern was the lack of detail put into the keyboard control scheme, but looking through that, I'd give it a 9/10 without thinking twice.
